Curie didn’t really invent any elements.
But yes, depending on what you are working on and how far along in development it actually is, who you are working with, the test conditions, human error, and what materials are necessary, invention can be dangerous.
As can be seen with Virgin’s latest test flight into orbit.
Isn’t it perturbing how you work day and night to develop and implement an idea that will eventually take you down? It is not fair you would say, but this is exactly what happened to some inventors who met their death by their very own inventions. It should not deter anyone from being creative though. Death never knocks on anybody’s door but always be cautious when trying out something new!
